The T-Bone Rey history begins with his becoming the regular drummer in his father's band at the age of twelve. Soon, he and a few friends started rehearsing in family basements playing more of a rock style. Many versions of these bands played for dances, parties or whatever gathering for years in the Alexandria, MN area. He was asked to audition for a short-term, full-time traveling show right after he got his driver's license, and won the audition. This was to be a job that would last a few months, but became the real launch pad for a career that would last for over fifteen years and many regular working and touring bands. The ability to add vocals, and also the passion for playing all percussion styles, kept work coming for years, and regularly.
Several years and many miles later, the full-time music career shifted to weekends and part-time only.
One evening while enjoying a jazz/pop concert on television, the artist started talking about what seemed to be a completely different America than the one he knew. After some thought, he realized that he shared much more with the Country and Western artists and songwriters than the more urban musicians. Heck, his first time driving was a tractor; he was a farm kid, he had cattle and horses that he knew by name.....
He picked up an old guitar and his father's old songbook of country tunes and T-Bone Rey was born. Seeing the need for actual entertainment and realizing the new passion of country lyrics, the one-man show was created to give the listener a feel of country before it got quite as popular with the masses as it enjoys today.
T-Bone's show is all acoustic: six-string guitar and vocal, with authentic costuming, and is fun for every age group.
